Fiona Hipkiss

Fiona serves as the IM Chief Operating Officer, responsible for operational leadership of the investment management organization, ensuring the vision is translated into action through high standards of execution. She is focused on maintaining strong connectivity across the IM platform and other global internal stakeholders. She is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of new strategies and broader growth initiatives.

She joined Hines in 2006 as a member of the European investment management team. Previous to her current role, she was the global Chief Compliance Officer identifying emerging risk areas and providing strategic compliance advice, ensuring Hines had robust compliance programs to prevent harm and reduce risk, and enhancing the Hines culture of integrity and adherence to the highest ethical standards across the globe. She had a central role in the firm’s response to new European financial services regulations and transitioned into a dedicated compliance role for Europe.

She expanded her role across Hines globally, playing a crucial role in the development and firmwide rollout of the revamped Hines Global Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and spearheading efforts to comply with new and expanding personal data privacy protections. She enabled business growth—accounting for hundreds of millions in AUM—by supporting the launch of new funds, advising on local rules governing capital raising, leading an expansion of regulatory registrations, and supporting the launch of the Hines Registered Investment Adviser in the U.S.

Fiona holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Durham University, a Master of Science in Urban Regeneration from University College London and a Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance from Manchester University.
