Jon Tanaka
Senior Managing Director, Country Head / Tokyo, Japan
Mr. Tanaka joined Hines in 2021 and brings more than 30 years of real estate development and investment experience. He led the rapid expansion of Hines’ Japan portfolio to over 30 high-performing assets across residential, industrial, logistics, and office sectors, totaling US$2 billion in asset value. Previously, he was Managing Director, Head of Japan Real Estate, and a member of the investment committee for TPG Angelo Gordon’s pan-Asia real estate investment team.
Tanaka is an Executive Committee member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Asia Pacific and served as a ULI Global Governing Trustee as well as Vice Chairman of ULI Japan.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Harvard University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley. Tanaka also attended the Graduate School of Architecture at Kyoto University. He is fluent in English and Japanese.
