(WASHINGTON DC) – Hines, Urban Atlantic and Triden Development Group, and joint venture partner Bridge Investment Group, announced today the official opening of Common Clover, the fully-furnished co-living building located at The Parks at Walter Reed, the vibrant 66-acre mixed-use community in Washington D.C.
Common Clover, consisting of 60 suites with 248 rooms, is Washington D.C.’s largest purpose-built co-living building and Hines’ first in the U.S. Managed by Common, the fully-furnished suites range from two to five private bedrooms each and feature beautifully designed living areas, high-end fully stocked kitchens, multiple bathrooms depending on suite size, and in-unit laundry.
“We are seeing an increase in demand for co-living and flexible housing options in popular cities, such as D.C., especially given the rising cost of living,” said Katie Wiacek, managing director at Hines. “Living with roommates is not a new phenomenon – at Common Clover we are elevating that lifestyle choice with a premiere and attractive community that meets the needs of residents while promoting a community atmosphere.”
The new community includes 21,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, and features luxury amenities such as a coworking space, library, rooftop deck, large courtyard with grilling stations, a fully equipped fitness center, game room, and club lounge with a bar.
“At Common, our mission is to create better living through convenience and community. In this increasingly mobile post-pandemic environment, where people of all walks of life are drawn to urban areas like Washington D.C., affordability and community are big challenges. We are thrilled to introduce Common Clover as part of The Parks at Walter Reed development and to offer co-living as an alternative and approachable housing option in D.C.,” said Karlene Holloman, CEO of Common.
Common Clover is located in The Parks at Walter Reed, a 3.1 million-square-foot mixed-use development that’s been transformed from a historic military medical campus into an exciting and innovative destination. It is home to several other residential buildings, outdoor entertainment, community events, and a mix of green spaces. In the center is Parks Marketplace, where Common Clover shares a space with a Whole Foods Market, Chase Bank, Jinya, Mezeh, Charmery, nailsaloon, and additional dining, shopping, and entertainment. The Parks is also immediately adjacent to both the new Children’s National Research and Innovation Campus and the U.S. State Department’s new Foreign Mission Center, flanked by commuter corridors and public transportation.
