About Grand Hyatt Athens

In 2017, Hines, in partnership with European real estate investment platform Henderson Park, acquired the Athens Ledra Hotel, formerly the Ledra Marriott, marking the firm's entry into the Greek market.

Centrally located on Sygrou Avenue in Athens next to the Onassis Cultural Centre and within walking distance of the old town of Plaka and the Acropolis, the property underwent an extensive renovation and was rebranded as a Grand Hyatt hotel.

The grand opening took place in August 2018, marking the first Hyatt hotel in the Greek capital and the first Grand Hyatt in Greece. The 321-key luxury property combines dramatic architecture with innovative design. The property’s rooftop offers a penthouse restaurant and outdoor swimming pool with impressive views of the Acropolis.

Following the grand opening, Hines and Henderson Park took a step forward to expand the hotel and in 2019 acquired the neighboring property that previously housed the Odeon Starcity cinema. The new building, which has an impressive Doric-style façade, includes 8 floors that are connected to those of the existing hotel building.

The expansion project of the Grand Hyatt Athens includes the addition of 227 rooms, bringing the total number of rooms to 548 and making it the largest Grand Hyatt-branded hotel in Europe and second largest hotel in Athens in terms of capacity and conference facilities, after the Athenaeum Intercontinental.

The hotel was sold in 2024.
