Torre Velasca is one of the most iconic real estate landmarks in the heart of Milan, characterised by a unique historical and architectural value for the City of Milan and Italy.
The Tower was built between 1956 and 1958 and designed by the prestigious Studio BBPR (Banfi, Belgioioso, Peressutti, and Rogers). It is located in the heart of the city's historical city centre, 500 metres from Duomo. The building covers an area of more than 20,000 square metres and is intended for executive offices, residential and retail uses.
Torre Velasca represents a unique heritage in the cultural and urban panorama and this is why, in 2011 the Superintendency of Fine Arts granted a monumental bond to the Tower. As a symbol of Milan's skyline and contemporary architecture. Torre Velasca is one of the most important post-war architectural masterpiece, combining tradition and innovation, past and present.
Hines, as investor and developer, has undertaken a structured intervention in the renovation of the Tower. The aim is to transform it into a mixed-use real estate asset that meets the main international standards in terms of quality, sustainability and energy efficiency, while preserving the building's valuable heritage, but reinterpreting it in a contemporary key. The recovery plan, studied in sinergy with the Superintendency, aims to maintain the iconic façade and restore the original exterior, while the interiors will be distributed in modern and dynamic functional areas, focused on interaction, cultural exchange, and personal wellbeing, reinterpreting the evolving needs of the community.
The redevelopment will also extend to the surrounding urban context through a new design of the square, which will be characterised by green spaces and socialising area. The objective is to give Milan a public space that represents a new destination for its citizens.
